Master dial makers

Montremo SA

For more than 70 years, MONTREMO has been developing and manufacturing watch dials in the heart of La Chaux-de-Fonds.

As an independent family-owned manufacture, we bring together many crafts and skills under one roof. They range from the very first development stages to the most demanding finishes.

Our strength lies in combining recognised artisanal expertise, advanced production technologies and an industrial organisation. This organisation is able to support watch brands from prototype to series production.

Precision, confidentiality and high standards guide each of our creations.

Manufacture

Tradition and modernity

Born in 1954 in La Chaux-de-Fonds from the inventive spirit of Ernest Morf, MONTREMO has devoted itself to the art of the watch dial. Today, the independent manufacture is run by Michael and Alexandre Carrubba, with the support and experience of their father Giuseppe. It carries on a tradition of excellence in which every dial comes to life with passion and precision.

Our commitments are linked to the approach initiated by the RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council). It defines the ethical and performance rules to be adopted in order to become a responsible company.

The RJC is a standard-setting organisation created to promote responsible ethical, social and environmental practices throughout the diamond, gold and platinum group metals jewellery supply chain, from mine to retail.

This organisation has developed a reference standard for the jewellery supply chain, as well as reliable mechanisms for verifying responsible business practices through independent audits.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme for rough diamonds. It aims to prevent the use of diamonds introduced onto the international market by rebel movements to finance their military activities.

By means of a certificate of legitimacy, this process guarantees that rough diamonds entering a country that is a signatory to the process do not come from a war zone.

The diamonds purchased by MONTREMO SA come from member countries of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and are not involved in armed conflicts, in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Diamond control can go even further through the System of Warranties, which supplements the Kimberley Process. Unlike the latter, it also applies to polished diamonds. Companies working with diamonds have decided to take additional measures to combat the trade in diamonds from conflict zones. These measures cover the manufacturing and sale of diamonds.

Every seller of “polished” diamonds issues a written warranty, which is then passed on to each new owner of the diamond. Through this written statement, the warranty informs buyers that the diamond does not come from a war zone.

The purpose of these controls is to limit the trade in conflict diamonds. To this end, every jewellery trader must:

  • Require warranties from its suppliers for all polished diamonds
  • Inform its suppliers in writing that this warranty will be required
  • Keep this warranty for at least 5 years

MONTREMO SA certifies that all the diamonds it purchases come from countries applying the Kimberley Process, and that it sources from suppliers who also comply with this system, in order to guarantee the legitimacy of our diamonds. All our invoices bear the mandatory warranty statement.
